They said, “Just wait, you’ll see one day,
When childhood dreams all slip away.”
We longed for freedom, grown-up ways,
But now we’re lost in tangled maze.
No more nap times, carefree play,
Bills and stress fill up our days.
The world once big now feels so small,
With endless tasks and duty’s call.
They said we’d have it all in hand,
Control our fate, take a stand.
But choices pile, and doubts abound,
No magic answers to be found.
The path is steep, the road unclear,
Responsibility, a weight to bear.
We traded dreams for nine-to-five,
Just getting by, not feeling alive.
Promises made of wealth and fame,
But here we are, still much the same.
We chase success, yet feel the lack,
Longing for what we can’t get back.
They said we’d thrive, they said we’d soar,
But adulthood’s not what we asked for.
A clever ruse, a bitter trick,
Where burdens grow, and time moves quick.
So here we stand, we play the part,
With tired eyes and heavy hearts.
Adulthood is a scam, it’s true,
A game of lies we never knew.
Yet still we march, through joy and pain,
We laugh, we love, we try again.
For in the scam, we find our way,
Through broken dreams, we live each day.
