Title: Unmasked Identity
Beneath the layers, masks of clay,
We hide our truths, we fade away,
Behind the smiles, the painted eyes,
A thousand secrets, a thousand lies.
We wear our masks in the light of day,
A careful dance, a practiced play,
But in the dark, when all is still,
The shadows whisper what we conceal.
The mirror shows a face unknown,
A stranger’s gaze, a voice, a tone,
Is it you, or is it me,
Lost within this identity?
Strip away the gilded guise,
Let the truth meet the light of skies,
What remains when all is bare,
Is who you are, do you dare?
The scars, the fears, the dreams untold,
The fragile heart, the courage bold,
This is the self, unmasked, revealed,
A soul unchained, a wound unhealed.
In every crack and every line,
There’s a story, yours and mine,
The parts we hide, the tears we fight,
All come alive in the quiet night.
The world demands a flawless face,
Yet perfection hides in every trace,
Of flaws and marks, the things we dread,
These are the truths, not what we’ve said.
Behind the eyes, the truth we seek,
A whispered wish, a voice so weak,
To be seen, and known, and understood,
To find the self where shadows stood.
When masks are worn for far too long,
We forget the tune of our own song,
The melody that once was clear,
Fades away when truth is near.
But in the breaking of the shell,
A new story begins to swell,
One of freedom, one of grace,
As we reveal our truest face.
So here we stand, masks at our feet,
In the stillness where souls meet,
With trembling hearts, but steady hands,
We face the truth, as life demands.
The maskless self, in all its might,
Grows stronger in the darkest night,
For in the end, it’s who we are,
That lights the way, our guiding star.
In every tear and every scar,
We find the strength to go so far,
Unmasked, unafraid, we rise,
To claim the truth behind our eyes.
