Beneath the smile, a shadow lies,
Unseen by all, unheard by ears,
A silent scream that never dies,
Drowned beneath unfallen tears.
In daylight’s glare, I wear a mask,
A painted face of calm and cheer,
Yet deep inside, a haunting task,
To bear the weight of hidden fear.
Each breath is heavy, sharp as glass,
Each step a struggle to pretend,
That joy is real, that this shall pass,
Though nights feel endless, hard to mend.
The world moves on, swift and blind,
To battles fought behind closed eyes,
No refuge from this tangled mind,
Where pain in every shadow lies.
I wander through this maze of thought,
Lost in echoes of yesterday,
Haunted by wars I never fought,
Burdened by words I cannot say.
But hope still flickers, faint yet bold,
A whisper in the howling dark,
That even wounds that burn so cold,
Can heal, and leave a tender mark.
So through this storm, I’ll carry on,
Through sleepless nights and weary days,
Till clouds break for the coming dawn,
And pain gives way to brighter rays.
For within pain, strength is born,
Through shattered dreams, courage grows,
And from the darkness of the storm,
A soul renewed will surely rose.
